It was a Brit dominated night at the 71st Emmy awards, with many British stars taking home the prizes from across the pond. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag picked up most of the comedy awards with Game of Thrones taking home the prize for best drama. Originating from Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, Fleabag emerged to be a big winner of the night, with 6 wins including outstanding writing, best comedy series and picking up best director for a comedy series for Harry Bradbeer. Waller-Bridge also took home the prize for best actress.
Other British winners included Ben Whishaw for best supporting actor in a limited series for his role in BBC’s One’s A Very English Scandal, Charlie Brooker for best television movie for Netflix’s Bandersnatch and British writer Jesse Armstrong for best writing for a drama series.
