​Your confidence and passion for the screen is a great start to an acting career, but that isn’t all there is to a being a professional screen actor. You may know the lines and have the look the director wants, but many actors find they are not really ready to be on camera once they got in front of the camera. Our team has put together a few tips on how to fix that:

Film Yourself, Watch Yourself, Critique Yourself

From the right movements to the realism of a character, seeing your performance can help you improve your understanding of the character and find what is working and what is not working for your performance. Not sure how-to best film yourself or what to film between roles? Try any script, monologue or performance you want to do in your future career. This can always be filmed on your phone for quick playback!

​You must know your good and bad habits.

​Everyone has their own habits, some that help enhance a character and others that may break the character. If you know your habits and can find the control you need, you will be steps ahead of many other actors. Directors will want the character to have their own habits and yours may not always be a match. Acting coaches can help find these habits as well and give you tips on how to control them.

​Be present

Screen performances are always in the moment. Not having a full connection to your character will be evident in your performance. Not having their mindset and ticks, or not understanding their emotions. will come across the screen. Living in the moment and embracing character’s strengths, flaws and more, is what creates a memorable audition and performance.
