Creating a New Era for the company as they open their new national headquarters in the heart of Yorkshire, this is a move that will change the entire TV and Film landscape for the city. Creating new jobs and commissioning new series from their new headquarters, the move has been welcomed by locals and here at IPM we would like to take this opportunity to welcome Channel 4 to Leeds by highlighting 5 of our favourite comedies brought to the UK by Channel 4.
Derry Girls Set during the Troubles in Northern Ireland Derry Girls is a sitcom about a group of high school girls who get into mischief. The show has just been commissioned for its third season and is showing that it is here to stay, garnering a strong following in its first couple of seasons. The shows setting of 1990s Ireland plays on the nostalgia of it’s more mature audience and the cast of young girls are relatable to many young girls today. Complete with a great soundtrack Derry Girls is a sign that Channel 4 will continue to push the limits of situational comedies for years to come.
The Inbetweeners After an 18 episode run The Inbetweeners came to an end in 2010, ending the show with a legendary status for many high school students and young adults. With it’s perfectly timed humour and many second hand embarrassments the show had many people in tears of laughter. The relatable characters went on to star in two holiday movies breaking records for British cinema and stamping its mark in British television and cinema history. Our team is excited to see what the future holds for Yorkshire with Channel 4 just a stone's throw away! What are some of your favourite Channel 4 shows?
